The Two Blues are pleased to announce former Waratahs and Brumbies player Liam Winton as an assistant coach for season 2022.

Liam has enjoyed success as a player and coach, a highly experienced player with strong links to Western Sydney having played 94 Shute Shield games with Penrith and 49 Shute Shield games with Sydney University that included winning two premierships.

Winton joins the Two Blues Coaching team after a highly successful two years with Gordon Rugby as 1st Grade Assistant Coach during seasons 2020 and 2021 in which time Gordon were victorious in the claiming the Shute Shield premiership in 2020.

Winton said of his appointment “Being a product of Western Sydney I always wanted to return and give back to the area where my rugby career began.

When the opportunity arose to assist Losi at the Two Blues I was excited by the prospect of being a part of a high-quality program on the doorstep of aspiring rugby players in Western Sydney.

With the calibre of staff and brand-new facilities at Eric Tweedle Stadium I have no doubt we will be able to create an environment which will add to the development of our players and most importantly deliver positive results.”

A Two Blues spokesperson said “we would like to welcome Liam to the Two Blues and the coaching team. Liam is experienced, successful and very well respected and he brings additional understanding of the Western Sydney community, which will only strengthen our coaching team and programs. We are excited to have Liam on board and look forward to what’s to come in the 2022 season”.
