Two Blues Rugby Academy
Nurturing the Next Generation of Two Blues
The Two Blues Rugby Academy is a partnership between the Senior and Junior Clubs which aims to grow and strengthen Rugby in region.
The Academy is a free program for all boys and girls who are registered with a Two Blues Junior Club, from the Under 10 to the Opens. All successful applicants receive a complimentary training uniform.
The Academy aims to accelerate and advance the development of our aspiring Junior players by delivering a training program focused on the following rugby knowledge and skills:
- Catch and pass / ball carry
- Support play
- Spatial awareness
- Decision making
- Defence and breakdown
- Kicking / goal kicking
- Counterattack
- Strength and Conditioning
- Speed and agility
- Recovery
- Nutrition
- Position specific training
The Academy is led by the Head Coach Two Blues Academy and supported and supervised by Two Blues Junior coaches, and Senior Club coaches and management.
The Two Blues Rugby Academy is a key driver of the Two Blues District’s pathway for our junior players. From their local village club, to training with the Academy each summer, and into Two Blues Representative Teams, before graduating on to Colts and Grade for the Two Blues.
Applications to join the Two Blue Rugby Academy are sent out to all our local village clubs.
To be eligible to apply, players need to have been registered with a Two Blues Junior club or complete the Expression of Interest Form on the Two Blues Juniors website.
OBJECTIVES
- Identify, nurture, retain, and develop local rugby talent within the ‘Two Blues eco-system”
- Co-ordinate and support Junior Rugby development in the Two Blues district
- Support the player pathway for Two Blues Juniors from local village clubs to Premier Rugby
- Support the promotion of Rugby in the region through increased participation and retention of Junior players (boys and girls) and coaches
- Align Two Blues Junior Rep Teams with Two Blues player pathways and coaching systems as part of the Two Blues Rugby Plan
- Develop player / parent loyalty to the Two Blues Rugby brand
- Promote and support Junior Coach Development in the region
- Support the Two Blues Colts Program
- Stand as a model of best practice for Junior rugby development
