Sevens Program Providing Opportunity

The Two Blues Sevens Program is going from strength to strength under the leadership of Director of Sevens Kruger Roache and coaching team of Waisale Qalulu, Mohd Roache and Lenny Rarawa.

The 2019/20 program has an extensive schedule that has seen the squad compete across New South Wales including Byron Bay 7s, Maitland 7s, Western Sydney 7s through to the Hottest 7s in Darwin and currently the Premiership Spring 7s with the World School 7s in New Zealand and Fiji’s Coral Coast Sevens looming large on the calendar.

The squad won the Buff Final (plate) in Darwin and finished runner up in round 2 of the Spring 7s in a heartbreaking Golden Point Extra Time Loss in the Cup Final.

The program is exposing the squad to the Rugby Australia and New South Wales Talent ID staff with a number of the boys on the radar for higher honours. We are anticipating some exciting news in coming weeks.

There are several tournaments to go before Christmas and then again to start the new year before the boys head into XVs season rearing to go.

The squad a real mix of youth and experience with several colts within the squad, which is really building into a unit that will continue to improve and provide opportunity for the club, the squad and the boys individually.
